Walmart CEO Mike Duke recently commented ( http://www.neurosciencemarketing.com/blog/articles/walmart-payday.htm), that Walmart consumers usually shop after getting paid. And since most people are paid at the beginning of the month sales increase at that time.

Not only Walmart customers but also users reflect this habit online. Shopping is a highly emotional activity. Have you ever felt extremely bad after buying an item you actually don’t really need, but purchased anyway? Or had a bad day and needed to better your self-confidence while visiting the biggest shopping mall?

But what does this mean for the Design? A general approach would be the subconscious manipualtion of the consumers feelings. Starting with the hopes and dreams at the beginning of the month and ending with the double safety combined with the persuation of the essential need of the product.

Looking around the web and the crm marketing like newsletter campaigns, no company seems to care about this fact or maybe just does not realise it.

I’ll post more information on how it works in tests soon.
